$253 Million Awarded on August 19, 2005: Merck Recalls Vioxx

On August 19, 2005, a Texas jury, in the first of thousands of lawsuits pending across the country, awarded a plaintiff $253.4 million dollars in damages as a result of the death of her husband who had a heart attack while taking Vioxx.

Vioxx was pulled from the market by Merck & Co., one of the world's largest pharmaceutical companies, on September 30, 2004 due to concerns that patients taking the drug were at an increased risk of having heart attacks and strokes.

A team of class action attorneys has launched an investigation into the Vioxx situation to find out what rights individuals who have taken Vioxx may have against the company. If you or your loved ones have ever taken Vioxx, and have experienced a heart attack or stroke while taking the drug, you may be entitled to money.**

**If you have used Vioxx and suffer from any of the side effects, we also urge you to promptly consult your doctor for an evaluation.

† The listing of a company does not imply that the company acted illegally, rather only that an investigation is underway.
